Samsung currently dominate the smartphone market and this is thanks largely to some superb premium devices that have wowed consumers across the globe. The manufacturers also have a tradition for producing some popular lower priced devices and the new Samsung Galaxy Fame is the newest model to add to this list. Despite offering some basic specification the model also includes a number of features not normally found on handsets targeting the lower end of the market.
Samsung have built a good reputation for producing high quality, low priced smartphones ever since we saw the Gingerbread version of the Android OS introduced a couple of years ago. The latest model to be released by the company is the new Samsung Galaxy Fame, a handset far removed from the other recent new arrival the Samsung Galaxy S4. This new model firmly targets the budget end of the market and some of the specification certainly looks like a device not competing with the big guns. The model offers just a single core processor and half a gigabyte of RAM which seems very modest in this age of multi core technology. The model does however also include the Jelly Bean version of Android which means that the handset performs at a very quick pace despite its obvious limitations.
The Samsung Galaxy Fame may be a model set to appeal to the budget smartphone consumer but it does include some features that are more commonly associated with devices sold at a much higher price point. Samsung are set to release an NFC variant of the model which will enable users to take advantage of contactless payment options via the Google Wallet software. In addition to this NFC will also allow the quick and secure transfer of material between compatible devices. A secondary camera is also included on the model, an option normally reserved for more premium devices. This front facing camera can also record video in addition to still images. Samsung will also introduce a dual SIM version of this device, a practice that has become common for them with recent models. It is unlikely however that we will see this version hit the UK market.
